Apni Zameen Apna Ghar (AZAG) is a flagship housing initiative launched by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The program aims to provide free 3-marla residential plots to deserving and homeless families across Punjab, empowering them with the dignity of homeownership.

Latest Developments

  • Phase 1: 1,892 free 3-marla plots are being allocated across 23 low-income housing projects in 19 districts of Punjab.
  • Construction Progress: Approximately 34,000 houses are under construction, with 2,000 homes already completed within six months.
  • Daily Construction: 300 new houses are being built daily under the initiative.
  • Financial Support: Interest-free loans totaling Rs36 billion are being provided to 33,500 beneficiaries for home construction.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the AZAG scheme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Permanent resident of Punjab with a valid CNIC.
  • Must not own any property in Pakistan (applicant, spouse, or dependent children).
  • Monthly household income below Rs50,000.
  • Registered with the National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER).
  • Clean criminal record and not a defaulter of any bank or financial institution.

Priority Beneficiaries

The program gives special preference to:

  • Widows
  • Orphans
  • Disabled individuals
  • Laborers and low-income families

How to Apply

Applicants can apply through the following methods:

  • Online Portal: Visit the official e-portal at azag.punjab.gov.pk to submit your application.
  • District Offices: Visit your local Deputy Commissioner’s office where dedicated desks have been set up to assist applicants.

Required Documents:

  • Valid CNIC (applicant and spouse)
  • Proof of Punjab residency (utility bill or domicile)
  • Proof of income or poverty status
  • Recent photographs
  • Any additional documents as required by authorities

Plot Allocation Process

After verifying the eligibility of all applicants, plots will be allocated through a transparent balloting process. Successful applicants will receive official allotment papers and may be eligible for construction support loans.

Construction Guidelines

  • Beneficiaries are given a three-month grace period to start construction.
  • Construction must adhere to government-approved guidelines.
  • Interest-free loans are available to assist with building homes.
